SSK Architekten has been awarded the 2nd Prize in a competition for Guro Station in Seoul. Korea. We tried to show a new paradigm in public architecture. It was very much hard to escape from an ideological and a physical limitation to a conventional train station trapped ourselves. There was an amount of good architectural ideas, in the meanwhile, several design changes and replacement. We just take a short break at the 2nd Prize for a while. We will contribute to the world through good architecture one day. SSK believe intense architectural conviction rather than compromising on reality.
공공건축에 대한 새로운 패러다임을 보여주고자 했다. 기존의 철도역사에 대한 물리적, 관념적 한계에서 벗어나는 것이 가장 어려다. 수십번의 디자인 변경과 교체 속에서 버려지는 좋은 설계안들이 너무도 많았다. 다시한번 2등에 머물지만 더 좋은 공간으로 세상에 기여할 날이 올거라 확신한다. 나는 현실적 타협보다 치열한 건축적 신념을 믿는다.
